I love tools, I really do, and I just can’t get enough of them. Some tools even have a history, and that’s always a joy to read.
I’m also cheap! I will resist every attempt to put lots of money down for any tool. I raid the local dollar store regularly for cheap tools, that are typically made in China. Don’t get me wrong; I understand the benefit of having the better tools, but I pick and choose what I want, based on what I need, with a clear understanding of the limitations. Sometimes a cheap tool is junk, and I count myself lucky when I buy a tool that turns out to do what I expect it to. Other times, I’m not so lucky, and the tool is stripped for parts or material, or more simply trashed.
Tools also need maintenance. Whether it’s lubrication, an anti-corrosion coating, sharpening, a replacement blade, or, in the case of power tools, a replacement battery pack or power cord, if it’s in any way cheaper, I will do it myself. Tools can also be modified or improved.
I will try to fill this page with the tools I use, so this page will change regularly.
